Our Hotel

Our walking route will will take you on....

Leaving the hotel, we turned left, then looked back to take this
picture. The hotel is now on our right.

Walking down the street..the hotel is along the left...

Going futher down the street, entering the circular-
Lenin square, now looking back toward the hotel.

Continuing around the circle, the statue of Lenin is to the right.

Just about to cross the stree to the right.

If I continue down this street I would hit our favorite little store
where we bought food and wine.

At the far end of the circle is the toomb of the unknown soldier.

Steve and Xander say Hi.

Continuing around the circle looking at the statue of Lenin.

Almost at the end of the circle, heading back to the hotel.

Along the waterfront. The ice is very thick. Usually the water is
frozen too.

Still on the waterfront heading back to the main street.

Many statues line the waterfront. They are gifts from sister cities.

This beautiful home is used for government work now. We got Xander's
adoption and new birth certificate from here.

This is the view from our new friend's apartment, Alexi & Julia.

They live in the same neighborhood that the baby house is located.

We took a drive up the waterfront through neighboring towns to see
an old Russian Orthodox church.

Beautiful view of Petrozavodsk from the church.

These two pictures are from the park near our hotel.
There were always many people with children of all ages and many strollers.
The snow and ice did not seem to deter them from getting out and about. |
These pictures were taken new years week. They had
a kids carnival in the downtown parking lot of the theatre. There are
three theaters in the city, the ballet, modern, and puppet. All are
said to be fantastic and known throughout Russia. |
